Opportunities and Benefits
What sets us apart from others?
We invest heavily in our staff through development and training. We have a range of roles meaning plenty of opportunities for promotion if wanted.
We also have a wide range of services across Somerset so staff have the opportunity to develop their experience and knowledge in service areas and specialisms.
Annual leave starts at 21 days but will increase to 25 days after 5 years continual service, also included are 2 additional days (called statutory days) that can be taken each year as well as the usual 8 bank holiday days.
All of our places of work offer free parking.
Are you interested in an apprenticeship? We work with Somerset Skills and Learning to offer the chance to learn whilst working. If you are interested please contact Somerset Skills and Learning
As you will see below our training will enhance your knowledge and support your progression through our service
To introduce you to our values and to equip you to deliver personalised support to our customers we will provide you with an induction which meets the new Care Certificate, a nationally recognised programme. This is part classroom based, but still practical, and part of which is undertaken in your new workplace. You will get to meet other new staff, some of whom will be new to care work and some who are just having their existing care skills updated. You will be given a workplace supervisor, someone to help you through your induction and to check things out if you are unsure.
Keeping Your Skills Up to Date
Our induction is only the beginning of your training with us. We know about the importance of keeping staff skills current and relevant. You will be expected to undertake regular training with groups of staff from all over our service. This training covers things like food hygiene, moving and handling, medication and keeping yourself safe.
Health and Social Care Diplomas-Level 2 and 5
If you demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm to your work we will offer you the opportunity to undertake a formal qualification based on your grade of post. We make no financial charge to you for this training but we do expect you to continue to demonstrate your on-going obligation to us.
Shift Leading Course
We know the importance of making sure our staff are equipped to do their job well. Shift leading is a very important role held by staff within a care team. As a shift leader this training will ensure you know how to direct staff with confidence, how to provide the care and support required by the customers in your care and what to do in an emergency. This course is unique and has been specially designed for our service.
Certificate in Supervisory Management-Level 3
We understand the value of retaining competent and effective staff, we like to hope these may become our managers of the future. If this is you we will offer you this first step onto your management career. This course will help you to motivate others, lead effectively, challenge poor practice and demonstrate good outcomes for our customers.
